Statement on Local Government Re-organisation decision for Hampshire, Isle of Wight, Southampton and Portsmouth
The Government has confirmed its plans to reorganise local government across Hampshire, the Isle of Wight, Southampton and Portsmouth. Four new mainland unitary authorities will be created-North Hampshire, Mid Hampshire, South-East Hampshire and South-West Hampshire-alongside the Isle of Wight.
Local Government Reorganisation is an evolving process, and we are committed to keeping our member councils informed every step of the way.
LGR Summit 2026
Hampshire ALC facilitated a full-day event focused on Local Government Reorganisation (LGR) updates and discussion. The event was very well attended, with member councils from across Hampshire taking part.
